Our offices in Buffalo, New York, Houston, Texas, and/or Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is looking for several Construction Inspectors, with approximately 10-15 years' experience, to join our Construction Management group.
The Construction Inspector is responsible for providing construction oversight, QA/QC, construction documentation, Safety oversight and overall construction management of multiple contractors performing construction activities. Construction Inspector shall be proficient in multi-discipline construction, including, but not limited to, mechanical, civil/structural, instrumentation/controls and electrical installations within Oil & Gas Terminals, Pump/Meter Stations, Tank Farms and Pipelines Facilities to support upgrades, maintenance and new construction activities. Position does not include relocation benefits or travel expense reimbursement associated with the pre-employment process. In this role, your responsibilities will likely include: Assess labor, equipment, and material needs for each work scope and communicate needs to project engineers and or supervisors Perform oversight of construction, maintenance, operations, and repairs of pipelines and associated facilities and equipment Complete required documentation accurately and timely (e.g., foreign line crossings), progress reporting, etc. Ensure contractor work is being performed according to contractual documents and track out-of-scope activity Verify construction is completed in accordance with engineering design drawings and specifications Plan job sequencing and coordinate multiple contractors' work schedules (look-a-head scheduling) Perform QA/QC oversight, documentation and inspection of construction activities Manage the execution of processes to fill or remove product (oil, refined products, chemicals, water) from pipelines Exemplify ownership and accountability for all work Implement and follow Company safety program(s) Lead safety meetings and issue work permits Perform to highest safety standards, including reporting all incidents and discrepancies Read and understand station flow and pipeline alignment drawings Read and understand multi-discipline engineering design drawings (P&IDs, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrument & control) Recognize abnormal operating conditions and initiate required emergency response procedures Set up equipment and pipeline for inspection, testing, and measurement Steward contractor compliance with contractual requirements
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications: Ability to plan daily work activities in accordance with established Company and Regulatory procedures Ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) effectively Able to use Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Demonstrated ability to maintain a consistent safe work ethic and provide a level of safety oversight for contractors per facility requirements (i.e., administer safety program) Willing and able to be comfortable working at heights Knowledge and ability to implement emergency response procedures Working knowledge of DOT regulations and PHMSA documentation requirements for pipeline regulated facilities Must be willing and able to attend/complete required training courses Willing and able to manage multiple contractors and various trade disciplines simultaneously Must be willing and able to work in small team environments Must be willing and able to work in various locations, both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures Must have safe driving skills Must possess a valid driver's license Willing and able to travel extensively domestically within the US (extended oversight position at facilities across the US)
