Job Requirements:

Directs and coordinates all activities and associated department personnel related to the Maintenance Department in support of insuring safety and equipment operating standards are maintained for safe and efficient manufacture of product. The Maintenance & Facilities Manager is responsible for the safety of maintenance personnel. This position manages all aspects of the preventative maintenance program for interior facility, which is inclusive of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, process equipment inspection and cleaning, and all other items considered important to the operation. Uses key metrics to determine performance and areas for improvement. The Maintenance & Facilities Manager position is responsible for maintenance shutdown planning and execution. This position also applies appropriate metrics to work force activities to assure maximum utilization of resources.

Manages the planning and execution of the maintenance shutdowns, inclusive of establishing the shutdown budgets and controlling spending to stay within the budget.

Develops annual budgets on applicable accounts that support maintenance activities.

Supervise and coordinate activities of maintenance workers engaged in setting up, installing, repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment.

Manage comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all the facility.

Establish appropriate metrics and goals to evaluate workforce and system performance. Identify corrections and improvements as required to insure the achievement of goals.

Manage the scheduling, coordinating and arrangement of materials, parts, tools, and equipment as needed for specified work projects. Plan maintenance operations, establishing priorities and sequences for maintenance operation, utilizing knowledge of production schedule, machine and equipment capabilities and staffing requirements.

Member of Safety Committee and responsible for the safety of maintenance personnel.

Manage the operation of the stockroom and purchasing of material, parts, tools, and related equipment needed to maintain, repair, or replace papermaking equipment and utilities.

Conduct studies on engineering proposals to develop designs for process improvements, equipment redesigns, facility improvements and new equipment installation, utilizing and applying engineering principles, research data and proposed project specifications.

Manages, develops, trains, coaches, and evaluates the members of the maintenance department.

Assist in the management of the environmental affairs of the facility. Manage environmental projects as assigned.

Coordination of time and attendance system / labor reporting. Approval of time and attendance punches including pay codes.

Ensures that collective bargaining agreement for each group is followed. Handles all grievances for department members.

Identifies and drives continuous improvement initiatives and projects to drive saving plans.

Must adhere to all company policies and safety rules.

Must be able to work extended hours when required.

All other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate:

(If a degree is required it must be from an accredited institution)

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Industry Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.

Five years of experience working in industrial related fields.

Five to seven years of experience of supervisory experience in an industrial setting

Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Working knowledge of MS Office Products

Ability to organize, manage and control workflow; ability to meet deadlines.

One to three years working experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

Knowledge of financial systems in order to manage departmental costs and formulate budgets.


Prior experience working in a union environment, including working with multi-crafts.

Project Management skills


$79,000-$130,000 Annually
