SUMMARYThis position resides in the Prototype Shop of the Lockport Engineering Center. The Prototype Shop has the lead in conversion of engineering ideas and designs into physical parts. It also supports the engineering department in the development of new products and processes.The primary purpose of this skilled position is to serve as a member of a high performing team with a diverse and overlapping set of capabilities. This position is specifically responsible for assembling and modifying prototype Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) modules for automotive applications.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assemble / Modify HVAC module components per prints and verbal instructions.
• Align, fit, and join parts using bolts, screws, plastic welding, and/or gluing.
• Cut, shape and form parts using a variety of manual and machine tools.
• Create designs, and construct tools and parts using a variety of materials including plastic, wood, steel, and aluminum.
• May use drawings and CAD designs to create prototype parts according to specifications.
• Interact with engineers and provides design recommendationsQUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma is required; 2 year associates degree in a technical field a plus
  • 2+ years of experience in model making or prototyping or machining or tool making fields is highly desired -
  • Background in plastics with ability to perform plastic welding is highly desired
  • Experience with CAD design (Solidworks or NX) is a plus
  • Experience operating press brakes, CNC milling machines, Doosan CNC Lathes is a plus
  • Experience in additive manufacturing (i.e. 3D printing) in an industrial or commercial setting is a plus
  • Able to read drawings and understand basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Basic wood working skills with ability to operate wood working equipment
  • Willing to learn new skills as required to complete tasks
