Connect with NRG on Facebook, LinkedIn and follow us on Twitter @nrgenergy.The Real-Time Operator role will work inside the Buffalo Network Operations Center (NOC) and is responsible for sending mass notifications for demand response curtailment events, monitoring and operating distributed generation, monitoring the electric grid, and providing event forecasting and analytics reporting. Responsibilities:Real-time operation of NRG's distributed generation sites and demand response programsAct in accordance with energy markets, utilities, co-ops, customers, and NRG commitments and/or proceduresExecute all operations efficiently with little to no supervision Escalate operational issues and communicate all necessary information to appropriate internal and external departmentsMonitoring of real-time customer performance data during energy curtailmentsCommunicate any event monitoring systems errors to IT support, participate in pre-production systems testing, and ensure that system updates do not create an adverse effect on business operations Working Conditions:The Network Operations Center is a 24x7x365 environment. The Real-Time Operator role will require working outside of normal business hours and will require a rotating shift on a 24-hour operational schedule (However, during the initial training phase, which may last up to 2 months, the hours will be 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.). Additional schedule flexibility may be needed, depending on business needs.Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in applied sciences, logistics, computer science, or related fields; military training or 5 years of relevant work experience (experience will be considered in lieu of degreeMust be able to report to the Buffalo office for all scheduled shifts regardless of weather conditions.Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office SuitePreferred Qualifications:Previous Energy industry experience or familiarity with energy marketsEngineering, computer science, or logistics background is a plus NERC or PJM certification is a plus #CB-PRAdditional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skillsOrganized, task-oriented, and strong attention to detailNRG Energy is committed to a drug and alcohol free workplace.
