OmniSeq by Labcorp is looking for a Specimen Accessioner to join our team in Buffalo, NY. The Specimen Accessioner receives clinical and research testing material in the laboratory; accessions and routes testing material to appropriate areas; requests samples from laboratories and performs timely follow up; tracks materials sent to and received from referral laboratories; assists with quality assurance activities; inventory management.Primary Duties:

• Receives and accessions laboratory testing material within various laboratory information management system(s) utilizing appropriate blood/body fluid precautions
• Stores laboratory samples maintaining the integrity of the physical/electronic inventory
• Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages
• Obtains required release of information signatures from patients to obtain laboratory materials when required
• Packages laboratory material for delivery to referral testing laboratories in accordance with regulatory and HIPAA requirements
• Packages diagnostic specimens for return in accordance with regulatory and HIPAA requirements
• Assists in ordering, receiving, storing, distributing, and controlling laboratory supply inventories
• Maintains files and stores relevant laboratory documentation in accordance with regulatory standards for required storage periods.
• Participates in laboratory quality assurance activities
• Enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, reading current literature and participating in in-service meetings and workshops.
• Attends meetings as required
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested Required Education and Experience:
  • Associates degree in healthcare discipline; preferred candidate will have Associate s degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in a clinical or research setting requiring the use of medical/laboratory terminology; or
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and current enrollment in an approved BS program in Clinical Laboratory Technology; or
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and the equivalent of two (2) years of full time experience in a clinical or research setting requiring the use of medical/laboratory terminology.Pay Range: $ 19.00 - $23.43 Benefits: All job offers will be based on a candidate s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
