Exciting opportunity for a Grants Specialist in the UB School of
Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
(https://pharmacy.buffalo.edu/) ( SPPS ). This position will be a
key part of the infrastructure for external grants and other
sponsored research activities in the SPPS . The Grants Specialist
will work as a member of the Research Administration Team in SPPS
and will serve as liaison between the SPPS faculty, Sponsored
Projects Services ( SPS ), internal and external stakeholders. The
Grant Specialist will be an active member of research teams and
will provide administrative support to pre and post award
activities of the school's faculty. Responsibilities
include:Provide pre award support to SPPS faculty and staff with
grant and/or subcontract proposals, which may include:+ Provide
direct support to faculty to facilitate proposal submissions,
including the ability to interpret and apply sponsor and university
guidelines, acting as a liaison between faculty, Sponsored Projects
Services, and other universities and organizations.+ Manage the
development of budgets and budget justifications which include
proofing the budget for inconsistencies, ensuring accuracy with
budgets, obtaining SPS review and approval.+ Assist in the
development of non-technical documents including research
development, review, editing, and completion of various federal and
non-federal packages.+ Advise and assist principal investigators
with CLICK and Grants.gov application submissions. -Provide post
award management to SPPS faculty and staff with grants and/or
subcontracts, including detailed reconciliation of assigned project
budget with consideration for allocability and allowability of
charges that may include:+ Perform principal investigators (PI)
account reconciliations including management of budget,
forecasting, personnel allocation, and carryover determination in
coordination with SPS and sponsor guidelines.+ Monitor end dates
for grants and track PI effort.+ Coordinate with principal
investigators to ensure compliance with grant guidelines and effect
changes as required.+ Manage budget, reporting and compliance
timelines through the lifecycle of the grant or

Degree and three years professional experience in research
administration (pre or post award management), grant management or
closely related professional experience or an equivalent
combination of education and experience.+ Excellent interpersonal
communication skills, including verbal and written, with an ability
to communicate and operate effectively in diverse community of
students and faculty.+ Ability to prioritize and balance multiple
grant/contract submissions and other responsibilities to ensure
deadlines and timeframes are met.+ Demonstrate critical thinking
skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility,
strong work ethic, and ability to work independently and exercise
good judgement, and follow through.+ Computer skills with
proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Preferred
Qualifications: + Experience in a higher education and research
settings, working with faculty, staff, and students+ Experience in
post award management of federal and investigator-initiated
research grants+ Experience with University at Buffalo policies and
procedures.+ Experience with University at Buffalo systems ( CLICK
, ShopBlue E-Req, E- PTF ,)+ Working accounting skills for budget
and active grant reviews+ Certified Research Administrator ( CRA
Credential)+ Certified in CITI training that includes, Good
Clinical Practice, Biomedical Research, HIPAA , and animal research
