Overview:Builds relationships and seeks out partnership
opportunities that further enable the mission of M&T Tech to
grow, attract, and retain technology talent while keeping a focus
on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Coordinates the activity
between community members and organizations with the Banks tech
training and talent programs to drive the development and execution
of an ongoing community engagement plan.Primary
Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements community engagement strategy that
defines the right organizations and communities to partner with;
updates plan regularly to adjust to market conditions as well as
internal needs
- Cultivates relationships with current and potential community
partners (with an attention on education, training, and
talent-focused organizations) through in-person meetings, phone
calls, and emails to aggregate pipeline of projects or creative
collaboration opportunities with Tech Academy
- Originate relationships by visiting community organizations and
holding introductory meetings with leadership and presenting to
community members to provide overview of programs available through
Tech Academy
- Meets with community partners to solicit feedback on Tech
Academy programs to enhance diversity, equity, accessibility, and
inclusion at the Bank and in the community
- Creates sophisticated mapping that aligns requests from trusted
community partners with Tech Talent and Tech Academy to
collaboratively solve for identified technology challenges or
talent needs
- Identifies opportunities for Bank sponsorship and participation
in community events
- Designs programs to continuously build relationships in the
community; establishes and maintains relationship management
tracking and follow-up process
- Crafts and manages an external communication plan that markets
the benefits of Tech Academy through innovative collaboration and
continuous learning to resonate with specific audience, inclusive
of current and potential community partners, and non-traditional
talent pipelines
- Delivers presentations during community events to promote tech
skills and tech talent development in the community
- Understand and adhere to the Companys risk and regulatory
standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Companys
Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to
management.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the
M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely
implementation of internal and external audit points together with
any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Scope of
Responsibilities:
- This position supports the effective execution of the community
engagement strategy for the Tech Talent and Tech Academy
teams.
- This position will be privy to internal and external business
sensitive information about talent and strategy. The incumbent must
be able to handle this information in confidence and respect
privacy of details they may be trusted to handle.
- This position will have community engagement outreach that may
include but is not limited to: public or private entities,
education institutions or training and talent-focused organizations
serving audiences ranging from K-12 to adult learners.
- Incumbent will represent Technology in cross functional, high
visibility projects involving business partners outside of the
department and community stakeholders.Supervisory/Managerial
Responsibilities:NoneEducation and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years work experience, or
in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years higher education
and/or work experience
- Advanced proficiency in computer skills with knowledge of
pertinent spreadsheet, word processing, database, presentation and
email software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or function as a
member of a team
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to shifting priorities
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive relationships in the
community
- Ability to interact positively with people representing a broad
range of organizations, such as nonprofits, educational
institutions, corporations, government etc.Education and Experience
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years work experience in
Learning & Development, Human Resources, Community Engagement,
Diversity and Inclusion, Communications Social Work, Human
Services, Education or Technology role
- In lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years higher
education and/or work experience focused in Learning & Development,
Human Resources, Community Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion,
Communications Social Work, Human Services, Education or Technology
fields
- Excellent relationship-building skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with
ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
- Ability to excel as an ally to all pertinent partners skills in
scenarios where partnerships dynamics may not be optimal
- Experience navigating relationships across complex
public-private partnership structures
- Track record of building creative partnerships
- Solid ability to establish relationships across the region and
network with other organizations
- Possess an unyielding commitment to bettering the community and
bringing tech skills to underserved and historically
under-represented communities in Tech
- Understanding of and experience working with underserved
communities and Nontraditional students
- Experience working with nonprofits, corporations and workforce
development organizations
- Excellent reputation among internal and external
stakeholders
- Ability to present persuasivelyPhysical Requirements:
- Periodic requirement to independently move light furniture
short distances within the facility for job related purposes.
- Ability to move physical presentation material or supplies with
the assistance of carts.
- Ability to travel by means of self-established reliable
transportation within the region where Tech Academy is based 30% -
