Job Summary Works independently under close supervision, analyze online customer behavior to identify trends that can be used to drive growth and maximize exposure. Determine return measures for digital marketing projects to improve campaign effectiveness.We're continuing to advance our Corporate Communications capabilities to successfully build awareness and drive engagement to enhance Avantor's reputation as a leading solutions and services provider to the high-growth life science, advanced technologies and applied materials industries. The Corporate Communications Specialist reports directly to the Director, PR & External Communications. - MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - (List in order of importance)

  • As a member of our evolving Corporate Communications team, the Specialist will lead and/or assist in multiple Corporate Communications initiatives, with a focus on using external programming and channels to target key stakeholders
  • Lead tactical support for earned media (PR) outreach, including wire and trade press releases and for company milestones and events
  • Support curation and creation of daily internal newsletter of media coverage and analyze for trends that can inform media relations strategies
  • Evaluate inbound media inquiries
  • Support executive and thought leadership program including related media interviews and speaking engagements
  • Draft initial press releases and media pitches
  • Monitor organic social channels and escalate any posts that require input
  • Drive owned media (social media) strategy and programming across the organization to ensure consistency of content and guiding principles
  • Collaborate with regional and business communicators to ensure social media strategy and tactics align with Corporate, business and functional goals
  • Maintain relationships with wire service and agency partners as appropriate
  • Manage outside agency resources to deliver elements of targeted communications plans
  • Support change and crisis planning and communications as needed to ensure guiding principles are implemented
  • Integrate best practices for campaigns and sustained programming for broader positioning
  • Work closely with the functional team members on cross-discipline planning/program execution, story development and sharing, and employee engagement as appropriate
  • Drive KPIs/metrics to ensure program performance and constant improvement
  • Support bowler evolution and functional reporting QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)
    • BA/BS or equivalent experience
    • 2-4 years of experience in corporate communications, digital communications or public relations with a bias to the global industrial manufacturing industry
    • Experience using various functional tools such as Cision media monitoring and dashboard development and Social Media channels, tools and platforms (Hootsuite, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter) KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)
      • Strong writing & editing (AP style) skills for quality control (especially for digital applications)
      • Flexible with problem solving and analytical skills
      • Committed to constant improvement and best practice
      • Business acumen
      • Knowledge and understanding of digital media platforms and online communities.
      • Enthusiasm for implementing new communications technologies and strategies
      • Handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines

        • Typically works in an office with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
        • Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
        • A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
        • Minimal physical effort is required.
