Job Description:

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Manager, Business Planning to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. The position is located in in Buffalo, NY where we focus on the development, production and support of state-of-the-art Simulation Systems solutions. The Amherst Systems Manager, Business Planning reports directly to the Operating Unit (OU) Director and is responsible for ensuring that the OU Director's vision and direction is translated into reality. The Manager, Business Planning supports directors and managers across the organization and represents the views of the OU Director in order to facilitate change management in support of the strategic plan. This position also manages the administrative, operational affairs, communications across the operating unit, facilitates the dissemination of information from Sector, Division and Business Unit (BU) and expedites the implementation of business initiatives. This position will be responsible for a broad range of Amherst Systems internal business integration elements including the following: Participation in strategy development: Drives execution of strategic initiatives and tasks initiated by the OU Director by working with solid and dotted line business leaders across the organization. Participates in the development, review and reporting preparation of the LRSP, AOP, Pipeline and other OU reviews. Coordination of Business Unit, Division, Sector & Corporate reviews: Coordinates the development, review and updates of periodic reporting of operating unit performance with coordinated financial and non-financial metrics such as weekly Status Reporting, monthly Business Unit Reviews, program reviews and other briefings/reports in support of the business unit, division, sector and/or corporate data calls. Provides clear and concise direction to the operating unit leadership team resulting from dry runs/draft review comment of the OU Director, BU VP or Division GM. Facilitation / management of reports and internal/external meetings: Anticipates and manages the materials, data and presentation needs for upcoming reports, meetings and events such as staff meetings and monthly reports. Ensures OU program review compliance on content and suspense date including Return to Green (RTG) plans. Streamlines business unit review packages and gives guidance to team. Generates/coordinates meeting minutes and ensures action items are addressed and closed in a timely manner. Streamlines reporting format and methodology and eliminates redundancy in reports and reviews. Ensures deadlines are met and builds operating unit reputation as one that meets commitments with quality input, first time, and every time. Provides direct support to OU Director: Coordinates with executive admin and provides guidance on OU calendar, reviews, meetings, and travel requests. Develops and coordinates the review of talking points and speeches for internal and external appearances. Coordinates and/or prepares internal and external presentations. Prepares rough drafts and edits correspondence and other writings by OU Director. Coordinates Director staff on various operating unit activities. Handles various recurring and ad hoc administrative tasks. Ensure operating unit compliance with company procedures. Supports the OU Director in cultivation of relationships with corporate, sector and division executive leadership team members, strategic partners, suppliers and other stakeholders. May occasionally represent the OU Director in internal and external meetings. Briefs the OU Director on key issues, challenges and decisions made at meetings. Plans and executes Amherst Systems Leadership meetings and all-hands meetings. Provides leadership and support to the operating unit executive and program management teams: Provides special support to OU staff. Identifies potential leadership and business training to the various operating unit personnel. Manages capital, overhead and discretionary funds to achieve a positive impact on the Amherst OU business: Supports Non-Contract Technical Activity (NCTA) and capital budgets and activities to ensure plans and spending are in accordance with operating unit objectives. Supports operating unit IRAD, M&S and proposal plans and budgets, including multiyear NCTA database. Manages Programs overhead budget. Supports floor space plan and facility updates for the operating unit. Leads a culture of engagement within the operating unit team: Analyzes and shares engagement and inclusion data with operating unit leadership team and facilitates dialogue about the employee survey. Collaborates on development and implementation of operating unit action plans and initiatives. Monitors progress on engagement, inclusion and PM effectiveness activities. Manages BRAVO reward and recognition budget for the Programs organization. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 6+ years of experience A minimum of 5+ years of project/functional or business management experience Ability to obtain a Secret clearance Ability to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours Ability to change physical locations based upon need (including physical ability to travel) U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearance Preferred Qualifications: High energy strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to operate and communicate at both a strategic and a hands-on level as needed Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks within critical deadlines Attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills Analytical thinking, detailed planning, and presentation skills Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships with others Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
