smarter transportation Scope of Position Software engineering
position to support the manufacturing and engineering of
world-class, high-precision optical systems in Cornings Advanced
Optics division. Work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers
to develop and improve in-house software tools used to design,
evaluate quality, optimize performance, and ensure specification
compliance of complex optical systems and components. Support data
storage architecture, analysis, and analytics for our
R&D/prototype and manufacturing data. Requirements Minimum
bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or
Software Engineering Minimum 3-5 years industry experience in
software engineering Core competencies include: Compiled languages,
e.g. C++, C# Scripted/interpreted languages, e.g. Python, MATLAB
Data analysis (statistics, fitting to models, visualization) and
analytics (e.g. machine-learning models) Database (e.g. SQL)
design, querying, indexes, tables, etc. Software architecture
design for large, complex projects and experience supporting legacy
software Desired Skills Experience with software development for
engineering or scientific applications and end users Experience
with scientific-computing packages, e.g. BLAS or NumPy, along with
a background in calculus and linear algebra Familiarity with both
Windows and Linux/WSL environments, and with their respective
scripting (batch files and bash shell scripts) Familiarity with
graphical user interface systems, e.g. Qt Familiarity with cloud
services (e.g. AWS) This position does not support immigration
sponsorship. The range for this position is $84,608.00 -
$116,336.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the
successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related
factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market
demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits
available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may
