Software Engineer - Front End Our products users, all staff at higher education institutions, interface with our text messaging platform via a responsive web application and iOS and Android apps. You, as a front-end focused engineer, will have an opportunity to shape their experience first-hand. The original front-end components of our application were built using AngularJS. Components are now built using Vue as we work on a migration strategy along the way. Our mobile applications are hybrid Ionic. Regardless of the stack, youre most comfortable with, were looking for someone experienced in web development using a modern JavaScript framework along with HTML/CSS who understands how the web works and has a strong sense of UX and product design. As a member of a small team, you are guaranteed to make an impact almost immediately. Our goal is to have you shipping code the first week, with all the support youll need. Youll need to be both open-minded and willing to share your opinions - ready to learn and to share. Qualifications and Responsibilities At least 2 years of experience developing and supporting a non-trivial, client-facing modern web-based application in production Experience developing on a modern JavaScript framework (Angular, Vue, React, etc), HTML, and CSS Participation and involvement in UX, prototyping, and design efforts, even if its not a primary responsibility. You have opinions on what makes a well-designed product with a winning user experience. A collaborative working style that includes the rest of your team in important decisions and leads to shared understanding and ownership. A strong working relationship with the product manager and back end engineers is critical to success A focus on reducing complex problems into a set of simple solutions. A desire to improve software over time, being transparent with failures and lessons learned, and an ability to look forward to improvement and not dwell on mistakes Experience with server-side frameworks/concerns, mobile development, and WCAG/Accessibility are fantastic but not required.
