Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Sterile Processing Tech Specialty: Acute Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Full-Time Hours per Shift: 8 Hours Experience: Minimum of 1 Year Experience License: BLS Required Certifications: None Listed Must-Have: One (1) Year Experience Description: Under the leadership of the Surgical Services Nurse Manager, demonstrates competency in identification, decontamination, processing, and sterilization of surgical instruments. Possesses a thorough understanding of processing and sterilization of surgical instruments. Demonstrates independent function in ensuring proper operation within the department, including communication, problem-solving, and equipment testing, setup, and maintenance of critical and non-critical supplies. Ensures that soiled instruments and equipment are decontaminated in a manner that prevents cross-contamination. Ensures a sterile product by properly assembling items and using appropriate packaging for terminal sterilization. Ensures sterility and high-level disinfection are achieved by following the appropriate procedures. Maintains inventory and appropriate storage of sterile and sanitized items, ready for distribution upon request.
