Job Description:

The Community Health Center of Buffalo (CHCB), is searching for an experienced Dental Assistant to join our team. The Dental Assistant assists the Dentist in a broad range of tasks that are required to treat dental patients in the highest quality of care in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists dentist chair side utilizing the principles of four-handed dentistry
• Seats and dismisses patients
• Maintains clean operatory and dental laboratory area with approved disinfectants
• Maintains dental equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations
• Cleans and sterilizes dental instruments
• Exposes and develops radiographs
• Maintains inventory of dental supplies
• Pours dental models and performs assigned laboratory duties
• Performs clerical duties such as answering the phone and making appointments
• Uses computerized patient information system to register patients and perform other clerical procedures
• Uses medical insurance web sites to verify patient eligibility
• Handles missed appointment follow-up with patients to reschedule when necessary
• Keeps up basic maintenance on the equipment, i.e. change filter for the suction machine
• Assists in general dental practice setting
• Participates in and contributes to Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities and functions as needed
• Relates to patients of all ages and life situations in a supportive professional manner
• Regular attendance is required
• Attends staff meetings as required
• Performs other relevant duties as assigned or requested
  Physical Demands: Requires periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping and reaching.
  Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma and dental office experience required. NYS licensed registered Dental Assistant preferred. Must be independent, flexible, possess personal integrity and have the ability to work effectively with patients and staff.
