Details:
Under supervision of the OASAS Program Nursing Director, theAssistant Nurse Supervisoris responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process. The Assistant Nurse Supervisor participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing support and information about the nursing services. The Assistant Nurse Supervisor coordinates care between other professional disciplines as needed. Through documentation and verbal communication, essential information is shared with health care team members. When care is not provided directly by the Assistant Nurse Supervisor, the Assistant Nurse Supervisor assigns/delegates care to other qualified members of the health team. This position will adhere to all policies, procedures and regulations set forth by New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse to ensure patient safety and compliance. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.The salary is $42.72/Hr
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Uses computer for basic word processing and / or basic spreadsheet use


  • Uses a variety of software packages to maintain databases and create complex, custom reports


  • Supervises all the LPN's and monitors productivity to ensures policies and procedures are being followed


  • Assists the Medical Providers with the history and physicals of the clients.


  • Conducts monthly audits of client records and present the results to the QA committee.


  • Develops an action plan to address trends


  • Conduct preliminary nursing assessments


  • Reviews policies and procedures with directors and participates in any changes that need to be tailored to the operation of the OTP


  • Participates in weekly client case conferences


  • Conducts "Health related topics" group meeting as needed.


  • Assists directors with the day-to-day operations when necessary


  • Participates in quarterly infection control meetings as needed


  • Adhere and dispense appropriate methadone dosages, in accordance with clinic procedures and guidelines according to DEA, OASAS, SAMSHA, and DOH regulations.


  • Detail inventory maintenance and reporting with computations according to each tour


  • Maintain monthly, weekly, and daily reports for accountability of daily dispensing activities such as calibration, spillage, compliance, reconciliation, variance, and swapping of inventory.


  • Prepare and assess clients at the time of intake, and then on an on-going basis if new medical or nursing needs are apparent, communicates to the client's on-site attending medical provider.


  • Perform nursing assessment during each medication dispensed for each client to identify alertness and orientation.


  • Computer skills essential as methadone medication is dispensed via computer system


  • Perform technical skills such as vital signs, phlebotomy, and various lab collection procedures according to CLIA guidelines, during nursing assessments and evaluations for intakes, client visits, and annual evaluations.


  • Implement nursing care effectively and with courtesy according to clinic policy and procedures


  • Assists medical providers and other employees as needed


  • Documents pertinent information regarding resident conditions as per policy/procedure


  • Maintains accurate documentation of all nursing activities


  • Adhere and maintain security of dispensing area and inventory and report any diversion to immediate nursing supervisor.


  • Maintain appropriate medication dispensing variations according to DEA standards


  • Participate in Joint Commission, DEA, SAMHSA, OASAS, and NYS DOH audits as needed


  • Maintains Mobile Medication and assist program directors in implementing services to clients as needed.


  • Other duties as assigned


  • Assist in our OASAS programs in events of nursing shortages


    REQUIREMENTS:


    • Minimum three (3) years practical experience in substance use disorder program required.


    • Graduate of an accredited Nursing School; Bachelor of Science Nursing preferred.


    • Must possess a valid and unrestricted NYS license as a Registered Professional Nurse.


    • Supervisory experience required.


    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.


    • Current NYS mandated infection control certification (approved by NYSDOH, valid for four years, 4.0 hours).


    • Ability to use business acumen to exercise good judgment and decision-making.


    • Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion.


    • Must be able to multi-task with strong organizational skills.


    • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate both verbally and in written form.


    • Commitment to cultural diversity and sensitivity.


    • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure and operate with a keen sense of urgency and commitment to quality.


    • Must have specific training in chemical use, abuse, and dependence specific to the services provided.


    • Covid-19 Vaccination Required


      Obtain within six months of hire:


      • Supporting Recovery with Medications Addiction Treatment (MAT)


      • CASAC Canon of Ethics (6 hours)


      • Confidentiality related to 42CFR (3 hours)


      • Mandated Reporter (2hours)


      • High School Diploma required.


      • Bachelor of Science Nursing preferred.


      • Graduate of an accredited Nursing School.


      • Must possess a valid and unrestricted NYS license as a Registered Professional Nurse.


      • Minimum three (3) years practical experience in substance use disorder program required.


      • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred.


      • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.


      • Current NYS mandated infection control certification (approved by NYSDOH, valid for four years, 4.0 hours).


      • Must obtain Mandated reporter (2 hours) prior to hire date.
