The Rehabilitation Manager ensures that the therapy provided is in accordance with the quality assurance standards of the facility and in compliance with State and Federal regulations.*Qualifications*A. Educations and Training Must possess a current license and be registered to practice in the State of New York as a registered physical, occupational or speech therapist. Must be a graduate of an accredited program.B. Experience - at least three years in a long-term care environment is preferred.C. Character must possess good moral character, patience and compassion for the elderly.*Job Duties and Responsibilities*The Rehabilitation Manager is supervised by the Administrator and Corporate Director of Rehab Services. The job duties and responsibilities are to be performed while observing the following standards: job standard (knowledge, ability, skills), technical skill, quality, quantity, judgement/problem solving, decision making, and initiative. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:A. Responsible for scheduling, administrative duties, clinical planning and operations of the therapy department.B. Provide treatment services as specified in the written plan in accordance with accepted professional standards and practices.C. Assess and re-evaluate resident's functional status on admission, re-admission, quarterly, annually and as needed.D. Develop appropriate plan of care in order for residents to reach their highest practicable wellbeing.D. Assess the resident's progress and responses to treatment and review progress with the physical, occupational and speech therapists at designated intervals.E. Integrate the rehab services with all other services.F. Provide guidance to other personnel for treatment follow-up.G. Maintain rehab equipment.H. Transport residents to and from the Rehab Therapy Treatment Room.I. Assist residents to prepare for treatment.J. Assist in ADL training.K. Assist in family teaching, including car transfers.L. Assist residents with exercises, i.E., passive, active assistance, active and resistive.M. Monitor resident's responses to ROM and splint care on a routine basis.N. Maintain paper and computer records.O. Attend Resident Care Conferences.P. Assist in development of and participate in staff Inservice education.Q. Supervise the physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and assistants/aides and schedule adequate staff daily.R. Evaluate employee performance through the Employee Performance Appraisal.S. Implement appropriately progressive discipline.T. Attend and be an active participant of all Safety Committee meetings.U. Supervise and instruct all therapy staff in proper and safe rehabilitation.V. Monitor and maintain an accurate inventory of supplies and execute purchase orders through the established purchasing system.W. Function as mentor for student interns within the physical, occupational and speech therapy programs at nearby colleges.X. Be an active participant of the Quality Assurance Program. Identify, correct, monitor and report to the QA Committee, as needed.Y. Review and update policies and procedures annually, and as needed, and report to the QA Committee.Z. Assure adherence to all regulatory requirements and billing codes.AA. Assist in preparation of the rehab department's budget.BB. Demonstrated understanding of MDS and Medicare regulations is required.CC. Perform other related duties as required by the Administrator & Corporate Director of Rehab Services.*General Duties and Responsibilities*A. Participate in all department meetings, mandated Inservices, and assigned committees.B. Maintain a positive and professional relationship with residents, registrants, family members, legal representatives and visitors.C. Maintain a positive and professional relationship with all personnel, including supervisors, co-workers and volunteers.E. Follow all safety regulations and precautions at all times; use protective devices as required.F. Enjoys team cohesion, is a team player, has a positive attitude and a strong desire to make a constructive impact on organizational excellence.E. Wear and maintain proper uniform/clothing as established in the uniform dress code policy, including name tag identification. Maintain acceptable personal hygiene.F. Maintain confidentiality and resident/patient/registrant rights.G. Maintain confidentiality of all issues and subject matters, including records, reports, data and other related sensitive materials.H. Maintain an acceptable attendance rate.I. Follow all laws, rules and regulations of the Federal and NYS Health Codes in regard to the department and overall organization operations.*Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities*A. Plan, develop, organize, implement and evaluate the department's work as appropriate.B. Delegate authority, responsibility, and accountability to other responsible department personnel.C. Provide leadership by being an appropriate role model to others.D. Advocate the purposes, goals and policies of Facility and affiliate organizations.E. Provide departmental personnel with ongoing feedback, including timely evaluations of staff, counseling of employees and taking disciplinary action when necessary.F. Provide effective supervision, ensuring all staff abides by all government laws, rules and regulations that affect patients, families, coworkers and volunteers of the Facility and affiliate organizations.G. Use any resources available to create ideas, programs or more effective practices that will benefit the organization, department and/or staff.*Goal Setting and Management Objectives*A. Attain a deficiency free NYS Department of Health survey and/or federal survey, and if required, resolve any deficiencies in a timely and effective manner.B. Work with residents/registrants/patients, families, and legal representatives to ensure that substantiated complaints are resolved in a timely and effective manner.C. Accomplish fiscal results within established department budget for the most recent fiscal year.D. Make and recommend timely budgetary adjustments as indicated, by analysis of the monthly budget and payroll hours, for the most recent fiscal year.E. Establish and complete all departmental performance goals.F. Establish and complete all individual performance goals.*Working Environment*The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions and protection from weather conditions. The Rehabilitation Manager performs his job duties in the Rehab Therapy Room except when performing related duties throughout the facility; hours are normally 8:00 am 4:00 pm, Monday thru Friday, and are scheduled according to the needs of the department. Weekend coverage may be necessary dependent on the needs of case load and staff scheduling.*Exposure to Blood and Airborne Pathogens*This position has been categorized into OSHA category 2: perhaps contact with blood/body fluids of persons living.
