Job Description:
This is a full-time, 6-month temporary position with Tecknomic
and the project is with Roswell Park Cancer Center in New York.
Please note, in order to apply for this position, you must be able

Required Education & Experience:
--- License Requirement:
License to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of New
York
--- Education and Experience:
1. Doctor of Pharmacy degree; or
2. Master's degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time
clinical pharmacy or pharmacy related experience; or
3. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of three (3) of full-time
clinical pharmacy or pharmacy related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would be someone with hospital and oncology
experience.

General hospital/inpatient experience

Job Duties:
Provides specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage
and therapeutic outcomes including advising physicians on issues
concerning drug therapy, the inherent toxicity of drugs and side
effects; assists in the prescription of appropriate doses.
Coordinates the activities of assigned pharmacy technicians engaged
in the preparation, labeling and delivery of medications and other
pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with prescribers'
prescriptions.
Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws and
regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs and controlled
drugs and the maintenance of required records.
Assumes the essential responsibilities and performs the duties of
the pharmacy supervisor in his/her absence.
Mentor pharmacists in training including, but not limited to,
pharmacy students during their IPPE and APPE rotations and pharmacy
residents.
Maintains liaison relationships with medical and nursing staff;
provides timely information pertaining to pharmaceutical supplies,
drug usage and compatibility, state and federal regulations
regarding drug controls, and The Joint Commission standards.
Assumes compliance accountability and responsibility for Roswell
Park Comprehensive Cancer Center's policies and procedures,
accreditations standards, and applicable federal, state, and local
laws and regulations.
Conducts and evaluates medication histories; assesses compliance
and suggests modifications so as to achieve desired outcomes;
instructs patients in the proper use of prescribed drugs;
participates in patient care rounds with multidisciplinary teams to
evaluate patient progress.
Individualizes medication regimens using sound principles,
accounting for pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic variations in
drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination with
responsibility for establishing and continually improving the
delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients within areas of direct
responsibility; assists others in the department with the same.
Provides patient focused clinical pharmaceutical care which
includes, but is not restricted to, primary pharmacokinetic care
and anticoagulation services.
Conducts and participates in research including, but not limited
to, performing as the primary investigator or co-investigator for
research programs which will impact on the delivery of quality care
or examine the pharmaco-economic impact of providing care to the
patients of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Identifies adverse drug events (ADEs) and assists in their
management and prevention; develops process improvements to reduce
drug errors and preventable ADEs; participates in reporting ADEs to
institutional committees and to the Food and Drug Administration's
MedWatch program, if necessary.
Documents clinical activities that include, but are not limited to,
disease-state management, general pharmacotherapeutic monitoring,
pharmacokinetic monitoring, ADEs, education, and other patient care
activities.
Provides educational in-services to pharmacy staff and other
healthcare professionals both formally and informally.
Attends meetings as required, including pharmacy department
meetings (including Journal Club), multidisciplinary meetings,
service-specific meetings, and educational in-services.
Provides primary oversight for specific operational areas assigned,
which might include but is not restricted to, Quality Control,
Nutrition Support Liaison, Training and Competency Monitoring,
Sterile Products Production Standards, and Medication Safety.
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described
herein.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures,
objectives, quality assurance programs, safety and compliance
standards.
Enhances professional growth and development by participating in
educational programs, reading current literature, and participating
in in-service meetings and workshops.
Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and
the department; maintains, distributes, analyzes and projects
information for required records, reports and statistics as
directed.
Attends meetings as required.
