Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent group of subject matter experts within the Finance Controller's Division. VCG collaborates closely with its client base to ensure complete understanding of business valuation issues and accurate execution of valuation policy. The role is part of the VCG team based in Buffalo, NY.The successful candidate will supervise the Collateral and Client Valuation (CCV) Control business from a global valuation perspective and will be expected to have hands-on involvement in all aspects of the process.VCG's primary responsibility is to reasonably ensure that risk portfolios are fairly valued in accordance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. VCG works with trading and quantitative groups to fully understand the impact of valuation uncertainty on the desk's pricing and any accompanying fair value adjustments. It also participates in the approval of new products.In addition to the valuation oversight, the role will focus on regulatory reporting requirements and internal and regulatory policy compliance for valuation and reporting. This role will be a part of a team that enhances VCG regulatory oversight, in line with heightened expectations from global regulators and internal and external auditors.We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to work within the Valuation Control Group's, CCV Team, managing a team of valuation control analysts.The candidate must have a strong understanding of the valuation of financial instruments, implementing/maintaining an effective control framework, along with regulatory developments and global accounting standards that impact financial valuations.The role will cover valuation control of the global CCV inventory and will require strong communication skills and teamwork across multiple locations and departments.Due to the technical nature of the role and the high-volume nature of the business, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate an aptitude in discussing the technical aspects of valuations to pose credible challenges across business lines.Job DescriptionThe Valuation Control Sr. Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to ensure the completeness, accuracy and integrity of the bank's books and records in coordination with the Finance team. The role will specialize in developing and governing the processes for Collateral and Client Valuations (CCV). The overall objective of this role is to drive efforts to control and support data integrity and general ledger reconciliation, new activity analysis, valuation control and balance sheet reporting.Responsibilities:Manage a team of professionals and ensures the quality and timeliness of daily tasksUtilize subject matter and industry expertise to accomplish tasks within assigned areaResponsible for working across Product Control, Risk and Operations (Market Data/Collateral/Client Valuations) to perform Independent Price Verification (IPV) on the firm's CCV inventoryResponsible for all aspects of valuation control related to CCV, including validation of market data inputs, reporting and analysisDevelop alternate valuation methodologies to value illiquid and esoteric securities and assetsDevelopment of appropriate controls to ensure effective compliance with Policies and Standards pertaining to valuation controlActing as first point of escalation with regards to any discrepancies and price variance threshold breachesIdentifying pricing issues, valuation parameters or instrument types that may require particular attention with critical analysis of the valuation issues involvedCoordinate with VCG stakeholders to ensure that all monthly reporting deadlines are met and required documentation is archived in compliance with reporting deadlinesAssist in financial reporting related to Non FV securities.Active participation in valuation projects through significant involvement in the UAT workstreams.Keep up to date with the market developments and use the knowledge in reviewing fair value movements.Qualifications:6+ years of relevant experienceConsistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communicationComprehensive understanding of financial markets and valuation methodologies applicable to the pricing of liquid and illiquid investmentsGeneral understanding of how collateral and lending works at a major bankAbility to manage time and work priorities efficiently and effectivelyUnderstanding how to design and maintain a robust control frameworkHands-on experience of implementing new and / or enhancing existing valuation methodologiesEducation:Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experienceMaster's degree preferred-Job Family Group:Finance-Job Family:Product Control-Time Type:-Citi is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.Qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.Citigroup Inc. and its subsidiaries ("Citi"-- -) invite all qualified interested applicants to apply for career opportunities.
