The Workforce Management Engineer will conduct analysis and studies necessary to enhance labor optimization and improve budgeting, scheduling and reporting. This role will focus on labor demand, staffing models, gap analysis, and process efficiencies within company's different business lines.
To ensure we hire the right person for the position, we are open to a remote work arrangement with ability to travel 50% or more as business requires.
What Great Looks Like in the Role

  • Completes time and motion studies, following instruction, used to capture tasks and activities performed in the Delaware North environment
  • Utilizes the information gathered in time and motion studies to craft a basic model that is used to provide insights for quarterly forecasts used to predict the labor capacity and financial resources necessary for payroll allocation and store organizational design
  • Conducts analysis that informs the labor standards and quantifies the opportunity for continuous improvement at the Company
  • Maintains the repository of Labor Standards
  • Identifies and recommends areas of opportunity for expense control and labor optimization to be used to inform workforce management decisions made by business leaders in various functions
  • Creates basic models that are used in payroll planning, long-range planning, and wage growth projections to provide insight into the best utilization of business resources
  • Develops recommendations through data analysis and modeling used in improving store productivity and driving business performance
  • Escalates workforce planning and management challenges so that the team can identify and provide an actionable resolution
  • Develop process improvements using LEAN methodologies to improve productivity, effectiveness, efficiencies and customer service
  • Translate SOPs and routines (workload) into labor demand, and align schedules with workload within assigned budgets
  • Coordinate and prioritize work activities and flow with different departments and business partners to ensure proper management of tasks
  • Analyze performance and report as needed including creating ad hoc reporting
  • Coordinate with HR, legal, and other groups to ensure compliance with government regulations and internal policies within the scheduling system including shift rules, pay rules, etc.
  • Act as a liaison to key business stakeholders, and interact with Analysts, Managers, VPs, and RVPs to provide expert opinion on labor allocation as well as on different business initiatives and pilots that impact labor in the stores Required Skills and Experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, or related field required; MBA preferred
      • Lean / Kaizen certified
        • 3-5 years' experience in workforce engineering in a retail or service-oriented environment; demonstrated experience conducting time studies
        • Detail-oriented and comfortable with a fast-paced, structured, retail environment
        • Experience with Kronos or similar workforce management tools (i.e. Red Prairie, Kronos, Infor, Reflexis, etc.)
        • Able to translate technical concept to nontechnical audience with advanced presentation skills
