Job Description:
Full-time Description Popli Design Group (PDG) is a
multi-disciplined Architecture/Engineering firm seeking a Project
Engineer to join our Civil/Site Engineering Department located in
Buffalo, NY. The desired individual will work as part of
synergistic, multidisciplinary project teams, leading civil/site
projects across New York State. You will apply your knowledge of
site design, pavements, grading/drainage, utilities, stormwater
management, etc. to a wide variety of projects for commercial,
industrial, municipal, academic/institutional, and residential
clients across New York State. Typical duties include engineering
analysis and design, modelling/drafting, preparing plans and
specifications, technical report writing, cost estimating, and
construction observation. As an integral component shaping the
growth and direction of the Department, you will also be
responsible for overseeing and mentoring junior staff, serve as the
primary point of contact with clients, and provide critical
guidance to both internal and external project stakeholders.
Responsibilities: Independently develop and/or oversee the
development of site plans, pedestrian and vehicular traffic
circulation pathways, roadways and parking lots, site utilities,
grading/drainage, watershed models, design calculations, and other
elements in support of comprehensive civil/site design projects.
Delegate and/or assign design tasks to junior staff. Oversee and
assist in the preparation and review of technical engineering
documents, including comprehensive plans and specifications,
reports, cost estimates. Perform technical and quality reviews of
engineering work by others in accordance with company and/or client
design standards. May serve as the Engineer of Record for designs
performed under one's direct supervision. Coordinate with internal
or external project staff, clients and governmental agencies to
fulfill the needs of the project and acquire necessary permits or
approvals. May be required to travel within New York State for
project design investigations and/or construction support
oversight. Required Skills: Proven experience using AutoCAD/Civil
3D for site design and preparation of comprehensive drawing
packages. Proven experience with watershed modeling and site
hydrology/hydraulic design software applications such as TR55,
TR20, HydroCAD, Hydraflow Express or similar. Proven experience
with NYS stormwater management requirements including the design of
water quality and quantity controls, preparation of stormwater
pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), permitting forms, and
construction inspections. Proven experience with NYS erosion and
sediment control requirements, including the design and preparation
of erosion and sediment control plans. Proven experience with local
municipal site plan review and NYS SEQR, including preparation of
environmental assessment forms (EAF). Knowledge of local utility
companies, municipalities, and associated design standards. Strong
interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the
ability to communicate effectively with project team members and
clients. Strong technical and problem-solving skills with attention
to detail, accuracy, and completeness. Proven ability to progress
technical concepts from inception through final design with minimum
oversight. Proven ability to lead and prioritize multiple
assignments with multiple disciplines. Willingness to learn and
embrace technology to improve workflows and internal design
process. Ability and willingness to work in a collaborative office
setting. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work
independently and prioritize as required. Willingness to embrace
and adhere to the PDG Quality culture in all aspects of design.
Understand basic safety requirements and willingness to uphold PDG
safety culture. Experience, Education and Certification: Bachelor
or Master’s degree in civil engineering. Minimum 6 years of
demonstrated site design experience, 8-10 years preferred. NYS PE
License CPESC, LEED AP, and/or ENV SP certification a plus.
Previous experience working in a multidiscipline A/E office
environment a plus. A valid driver's license and acceptable Motor
Vehicle Record (MVR) are required for this position. Work

Salary Description $90,000 - $130,000
