The Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Team delivers and supports all the foundational technology used across M & T Bank. Supports Two Data Centers, 1 Service Desk, 32,000 End User Computing devices, 14,000 Distributed platforms, 24 Mainframe Regions and process approximately 635,000 automated jobs per month. In addition to that foundational technology level, we also own and deliver End User & Collaboration tools with a focus on Ease of Use for the individual employee. We deliver innovative, and compelling technology solutions to enhance the internal customer experience that enables our business partners to deliver. OPPORTUNITY: This Engineer would be responsible for engineering, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the various components that make up M & T Banks Data Center Network infrastructure. This includes a Cisco Nexus network switch environment using Fabric Path and spanning tree topologies. Expertise is required in the specific technologies that are used in the environment such as routing and switching protocols. The ability to work closely with peer technology and application support teams is essential. This position includes maintaining documentation to reflect the current operating environments as well as creating operational documentation to reflect current processes and best practices. The candidate will need: - Experience with network design, implementation and support across multiple platforms including Cisco Nexus (7K, 6K. 5K, 3K 2K), Catalyst product line, ASR and ISR platforms. - Arista Data Center switching experience is a plus. - Expertise on switching and routing technologies such as the configuration and operation of VLANs, Spanning Tree, Fabric Path, VXLAN, NAT, VRF, ACLs - Experience with automation platforms such as Ansible - Scripting and Python programming experience. - Experience with Cisco UCS and Fabric Interconnect - DMZ Network infrastructure knowledge including topologies, security policies, firewalls and the L2/L3 switch and router infrastructure. - Proven experience troubleshooting network communications issues and reading and analyzing sniffer trace files to determine the root cause of application problems and failures. - Familiarity with using NetFlow and IP-SLA to troubleshoot performance issues. - Routing Protocol expertise: BGP, EIGRP, OSP. - Experience with end to end QoS implementation on routers and switches. - Knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP, NetFlow, IPSLA and general network management. - Knowledge of DNS and DHCP operations, support, and troubleshooting. - Exceptional network troubleshooting skills in mission critical networks. - Familiarization with security standards - CCNP/CCIE certification is not a requirement but a very strong plus. - Familiarity with Checkpoint, Palo Alto and ASA firewalls a plus MIMINUM QUALIFICATONS REQUIRED: - Combined minimum of 6 years higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management and/or architecture - Must be detail orientated/articulate with strong time - management and organization skills - Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to present to a target audience - Must be able to anticipate potential problems associated with network infrastructure or service level trends and plans for implementing solutions. - Must be able to work flexible hours, including hours beyond the normal schedule when necessary; we operate in a 24x7x365 environment. - Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred - Ability to work effectively and closely with all levels of management within and across the organization. - Must be able to work both independently or in a team environment.
