Job Description:

The OpportunityDelaware North is currently seeking a Data Engineer to work closely with the Business to identify and specify opportunities for integration with existing systems in a highly resilient manner using Delaware North's Data Platform. In this role, you will work with the Data Solutions team, a rapidly growing team that enables Delaware North's vision of using data as differentiator in the hospitality industry. Our work is the foundation of company initiatives to automate business processes, gather insights, and make informed decisions. Our team uses PaaS solutions and Open Source Software to aggregate, process, catalog and distribute large data sets throughout Delaware North's global organization, client base and partners. These foundational services empower Delaware North's mobile, data science, business intelligence, and operational systems.

Our Stack includes AWS resources such as Lambda, EBS and S3, Apigee API Gateway, Python, Django, Apache Airflow and MongoDB. We continue to evaluate and leverage new and emerging technologies in our stack.

We are open to a remote candidate who would be willing to travel to Global Headquarters at least once per quarter or as business demands.

What Great Looks Like

Design and implement project based solutions
Implement data platform improvements and new features
Assist support team with resolution of Data Platform bug fixes
Interface with clients, vendors, and internal users of the data platform on understanding the data
Participate in group design and architecture sessions
Author documentation for standard operating procedures, knowledge base articles, etc.
Develop integration tests to validate solutions

Required Education & Requirements

Minimum 2 years professional experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar STEM field preferred (or minimum 3 years of professional experience)
Experience designing and developing solutions with a modern programming language such as Python, JavaScript, etc.
Working knowledge of data structures and formats such as JSON and XML
Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
Ability to effectively collaborate with business users and vendors to address development issues
Ability to effectively triage and track issues through to resolution
Passion for delivering high quality and meaningful results
Technical specification and use case (story) documentation such as UML, Domain and Entity Relationship Modeling, Business Process Notation
Working knowledge of data persistence methods such as NoSQL and RDBMS (MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB)
Working knowledge or best CI/CD practices
Familiarity with Data Mapping & Transformation Techniques



Nice to have skills

Familiarity with RESTful Web Services, ETL, ESB, and microservices
Integration testing and automation using a continuous integration (CI) platform
Familiarity with cloud computing, analysis & implementation experience (bonus if it relates to Amazon Web Services specifically)
Experience working with Agile methodologies
Proficiency with Unix/Linux
Experience with Configuration Management tools
