Assistant Professor of Biochemistry/Organic Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of Canisius College is
seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in
Biochemistry/Organic Chemistry at the Assistant Professor level
beginning fall 2023. The faculty member will be primarily
responsible for teaching lecture and laboratory courses in
biochemistry and organic chemistry. Courses include junior level
Introduction to Biochemistry with Laboratory, Cellular
Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology with Laboratory, sophomore
level Organic Chemistry Lecture and Laboratory, and potentially
other chemistry-related courses based upon candidate specialty and
departmental need. The faculty member will establish a successful
research program in biochemistry involving undergraduate students.
Start-up funds and dedicated research support money is
provided.
A cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy,
undergraduate research program description, undergraduate and
graduate transcripts, and three letters of reference are required.
Candidates must also include a statement outlining their support of
the college's Jesuit mission and a statement demonstrating their
approach to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging in
their role as a college professor. Review of completed applications

Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time
faculty's date of hire and include - health, dental and vision
insurance, life and long term disability insurance, and retirement
plan enrollment is available to full-time faculty with contribution
from College after one year. One year waiting period may be waived
provided the person was employed in higher education for at least
one year full time within three years prior to hire date. College
contribution would not begin until proof of prior service is
received. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time faculty
and their qualified dependents.
