Job Description The Interdisciplinary Unit in Data Science and
Analytics at SUNY Buffalo State is seeking an Assistant Professor
(tenure track) in the area of Data Science and Analytics, to begin
in August 2022. RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Teach relevant courses in Data Science and Analytics and
associated discipline(s)
- Actively participate in Data Science and Analytics ( DSA )
projects and produce results of value to industry and the
college.
- Actively participate in the creation and maintenance of a
relation between the college and the DSA industry.
- Actively create and maintain a research team of DSA colleagues
and students that produces value added project results.
- Actively participate in the creation of teaching materials and
courses for the DSA program.
- Actively participate in the alignment of DSA marketing and
recruitment with the latest tools available.
- Actively participate in the creation of a new undergraduate
program in DSA
- Teaching possibilities include: Introduction to Data Science
and Analytics, Statistics, AI/Machine Learning, Databases and the
Data Life Cycle, Business Intelligence, Internship, or other
courses as experience allows. Required Qualifications
- One of the following: Terminal degree in (or directly related
to) Data Science and Analytics OR Terminal in any field and
significant corporate experience in Data Science.
- Evidence of a strong Math/Statistics background.
- Evidence of excellent communication skills.
- Evidence of ability and willingness to inspire and instruct
students.
- Evidence of ability and willingness to collaborate with
business partners.
- Evidence of excellence as a team player and knowledge of
Project Management. Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Math or Statistics. -
- MS in Computer Science or MS in a degree closely related to
Data Science with additional industry experience in Computing. -
