On the behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Sr. Accountant for a full-time direct hire position in East Aurora, NY. The ideal candidate must have a 4 year accounting degree with 3 years of experience either in a public or private corporate environment. Experienced technical accounting position within the Accounting Controller---s function. Goals include being a strong technical accounting contributor to a business function that strives for execution excellence and continuous improvement in: Financial reporting quality and timeliness, Internal control systems over financial reporting, including compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements, Insightful financial analysis, and Business process optimization. Required attributes: Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and the proper and practical application of those principles. Areas of focus include revenue recognition and product costing principles. Strong knowledge of financial control system fundamentals and SOX requirements. Strong analytical skills Published financial reports and presentations accurately and succinctly reflect the activity that occurred in the underlying business. Financial reports and presentations can be effectively communicated to non-accountants. Execution excellence orientation --- Sees the opportunities in current challenges. Business process optimization orientation --- seeks best practices and waste elimination (lean principles application), while maintaining required documentation and compliance. Positive attitude --- early adopter and leader of change. Accountable --- Quality / Accuracy before cost or schedule Bachelor---s degree in accounting. Three or more years accounting experience. The relevance of the experience being more important than the years of practice. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and familiar with the entire Microsoft suite. Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills Preferred attributes: CPA (primary); CMA or other certifications (secondary) Public accounting experience Manufacturing accounting experience Familiarity with manufacturing ERP business software system workflow designs (Order to Cash; Procure to Pay; Record to Report; etc). Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot and lookup tables Essential duties and responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Accountable for accurate and timely financial reporting. Close the financial records monthly, maintaining compliance with company accounting policies. Prepare journal entries, as necessary, as a component of the financial close process. Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. Maintain a well-documented financial close process. Apply a continuous improvement mindset to the financial close process. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements. Responsible for reviewing contracts and determining the appropriate revenue recognition method and timing in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Analyze accounting standards for the proper accounting and disclosure of technical accounting matters and prepare related position memorandum. Participate in the preparation of regular financial forecasts of the company---s operations and cash flows, including rolling updates of such forecasts and both annual and long-term business plans. Develop, implement, and review accounting policies and procedures. Establish and maintain internal controls over financial reporting. Support internal and external audit requirements. Develop subject matter expertise on all financial aspects of the business system. Develop working knowledge of business system cross-functional workflows (Order to Cash; Procure to Pay; Record to Report; etc.) Ad hoc financial report preparation and financial analysis, as assigned. Business partner and consultant to non-accounting functions.
