Director- Audit, TechnologyLocation: Buffalo, NY or Wilmington, DE ideally. Other locations are option for discussion. -- - Overview:In this highly strategic role, the Audit Director of Technology will be part of a dynamic team of individuals evaluating advanced technology solutions in banking. -- -The Audit team will collaborate with the best and brightest technology experts and provide consultative advice on the creation of new products to fulfill our organization's mission to improve the lives of our customers and the communities that we serve. M&T's emphasis on technology investment charts the path for our future.-- - -- --- - With the swift pace of technological change, the Audit Director will work closely with M&T Tech's Executive Leadership Team to look out into the world and stay at the forefront of the ever-changing technology landscape.-- - The Audit Director will develop the Audit Division's technology assurance strategy in consideration of emerging risks impacting the broad financial services and banking industry.-- - They will lead a multidisciplinary audit team to synthesize this information as they determine the nature and scope of work to be conducted by the Audit Division.-- - -- - The Audit Director will provide independent perspectives and consultation to the Audit Committee, Executive Management, Senior Management, Regulators, and External Auditors discerned through their objective third line role. Scope of Responsibilities:The Audit Director provides the strategic direction and overall execution of the assurance plan for their multi-disciplinary team and provides independent and objective perspectives relative to organizational management of risks and controls directly to Executive and Senior Management, the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, Regulators, and External Auditors. -- -They ensure activities are in conformance with professional auditing standards.-- - They report to the Chief Auditor and exercise independent judgment, discretion, and decision-making.-- - Primary Responsibilities:Leads the strategic oversight, development, and implementation of the 3rd line technology audit strategy and approach and oversees a multi-disciplinary assurance team in the development and execution of assurance activities and advisory services (including risk assessments, audit execution, continuous auditing, product delivery assessments, validation procedures, investigations, and retrospective reviews), ensuring these activities fully comply with regulatory guidance, divisional policies, and bank standards.Builds alliances with stakeholders and serves in an advisory capacity to Executive and Senior Management relative to critical organizational initiatives and governance committees, providing counsel to and challenge of technology, process, or control changes.-- -Responsible to champion and drive innovation through the deployment of agile principles, modern assurance tools, and adaptive methodologies.Models curiosity and continuous learning over the landscape of the financial services industry and actively shares industry knowledge with stakeholders.-- -Enthusiastically leads and continuously mentors a team of diverse professionals.Transparently and candidly communicates observations to stakeholders includes the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, Executive and Senior Management, Regulators, and External Auditors.-- -Exemplifies executive level interpersonal skills - leads through influence, inspires followers amongst senior leaders. Education and Experience Required:Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Business, Finance, Technology, Cybersecurity, Mathematics, Statistics or other related technical field and 15 years relevant experience, inclusive of 6 years of leadership experienceAdvanced knowledge and expertise regarding risk management/audit assuranceRelated certifications (CPA, CIA, CISA, CAMS or similar)Strong interpersonal skills: ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and communicate in an articulate and professional mannerProven leadership skills: ability to recruit, develop and motivate diverse teamsStrong analytical and negotiating skills including creative problem-solving skills Education and Experience Preferred:MBA or Master's degree in applicable fieldFinancial Services Industry experience preferredLocationBuffalo, New York, United States of America
