Overview: - Are you a smart and driven Product Owner who defines and builds innovative customer experiences? - Are you able to help develop a strategy and vision? - Are you skilled at building and executing roadmaps from idea to launching in market? - Can you connect the front-end customer experience to back end functionality? - Can you embrace this cross-functional role that requires you to work closely and successfully with senior leaders across the company, engineering, QA, design, customer experience, finance and the rest of the product team? The Product Owner will serve as an owner for an assigned product or set of products by representing the voice of the customer and stakeholders to ensure that the product provides value to the customer, while aligning with the business strategy. The Product Owner defines their product vision and roadmap, prioritizes the product backlog, anticipates client needs and serves as primary communicator between product stakeholders and teams while evaluating product progress at each iteration. In addition, the Product Owner plays a key role in the companys strategic direction, defining and articulating new opportunities, and working in close concert with key stakeholders, including senior leadership and their dedicated agile team. Responsibilities: - Serve as point person in defining the goals and creating a vision for product development, including communicating with stakeholders such as customers, management and the team to ensure the goals are clear and vision alignment with business objectives and strategy. Create a product roadmap that outlines the vision and direction for the product offering over time and communicate them with the team and all stakeholders. - Manage and own the product backlog on a continual basis due to evolving needs, while ensuring their prioritization based on overall strategy and business objectives and maintaining focus on the customer; ensure the accessibility and availability of the list to stakeholders to support optimized performance and outcomes. Ensure product features are the right thing to build at the right time. - Prioritize scope, budget and time in consideration of the needs and objectives of the stakeholders. Ascertain areas of flexibility to determine how and when each product iteration and element will be developed. - Oversee the development of the product through the four stages of planning to identify and organize the steps needed for the next product iteration, refinement of processes resulting from planning, review and identification of areas for improvement and support of sprint planning. - Understand and anticipate customer needs to better manage the process and identify problems or needs and address them. - Leverage data and analytics to identify opportunities and enhance overall customer satisfaction and product effectiveness. Own all insights related to the defined product(s). - Collaborate across teams to align product experiences to broader customer journeys, complementing backlogs, and strategic goals. - Have a deep understanding of the end to end customer journey for the defined product(s), both front and end back end impacts, as well as advocating for upstream and downstream improvements with journey and product owners to drive out an optimized end to end journey - Serve as voice of the customer within the team. - Serve as primary liaison between the stakeholders, including customers, and internal teams to ensure buy-in on all key decisions from the former and clear instructions and deliverables for the latter. - Own the evaluation of product progress at each iteration and determine whether the team can proceed to the next steps or whether there needs to be a re-visit. - Work with the delivery team to create appropriate information radiators for internal and external use. Use a matrixed influencing approach to work with essential business partners throughout the organization irrespective of hierarchy or divisions. Influence enterprise enablers (e.g. Risk, Compliance, etc.), advocating for the customer benefit of the product. - Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies. - Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M & T Bank brand. - Maintain M & T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. - Complete other related duties as assigned. Product Categories: - Security and Access Management - Activation and Engagement - Account Monitoring - Messaging and Alerts - Money Movement - Document Management - Account Servicing Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities: - No direct management responsibility, but while an individual contributor, the jobholder must manage activities through influence, accountability and ownership, functioning in an agile environment Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6 years digital, marketing, product management, financial, operations and/or project management experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 10 years higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 6 years digital, marketing, product management, financial, - operations and/or project management experience - Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills - Strong analytical skills - Demonstrated financial analysis skills - Experience leading large group sessions - Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills Education and Experience Preferred : - Knowledge of Agile and Lean principles and practices - Knowledge of basic product design and development best practices - Experience working in partnership with user experience teams on product design - Experience in Financial, operations and/or project management - Understanding of Design Thinking principles Experience developing/managing digital capabilities - Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills Specific subject matter expertise as required by assigned product - Strong leadership skills, ability to influence and lead as an individual contributor - Ability to translate complex business and technical solutions to key stakeholders Location Buffalo, New York, United States of America
